Choosing a Program

For first-year students, the Freie Universität Berlin offers an impressive range of Bachelor programs. In addition, there are the state-exam courses in Pharmacy and Veterinary Medicine as well as the Law course which concludes with the 1st exam in Law. German Diplom exams, State Exams and the 1st exam in Law are academic exams at Master's level.

Most of the undergraduate courses begin only in winter semester; updated information about the course offer next winter is normally available by 1st June. Only a few courses begin in summer semester; relevant information is available from 1st December.

Applications for undergraduate courses should be directed to uni-assist. Exception: Citizens of the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway must apply for Pharmacy and Veterinary Medicine via the Zentralstelle für die Vergabe von Studienplaetzen (ZVS).

Master programs of the Freie Universität Berlin normally require a recognized first degree and in some cases additional work experience and special language skills. A number of Master programs are taught in English. International graduates from abroad apply for most master programs of the Freie Universität Berlin via uni-assist. International students who have graduated in Germany, apply in most cases directly to the Application and Admission Office of the Freie Universität Berlin (for details, see course homepage).
