Funding

The University Alliance for Sustainability is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), courtesy of funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

Senior researchers and administrative staff employed at Freie Universität receive travel and accommodation costs according to BRKG (Federal Travelling Expenses Act).

DAAD rates for Students and Doctoral Students from Freie Universität Berlin:

Travel costs Monthly scholarship (Bachelor’s/ Master’s students, FU) Monthly scholarship (Doctoral students, FU)
Peking University € 850 € 1075 € 1675

Please note that the DAAD cannot fund a stay going to the country of your own nationality.

Simultaneous use of scholarships from other donors

A scholarship under the UAS program rules out the acceptance of an additional DAAD scholarship (e.g. PROMOS, DAAD Individual Scholarships etc.). This applies also for any other public or private scholarship as they cannot be claimed at the same time.

Special rules apply for organizations like: Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes, Cusanuswerk, Evangelisches Studienwerk Villigst, Hans Böckler Stiftung, German Business Foundation, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, Heinrich Böll Stiftung, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung, Friedrich Naumann Stiftung, Hanns Seidel Stiftung. Please contact the program management for further information.

It is the responsibility of the scholarship holder to inform the program management of any scholarships/funding schemes that are awarded during the duration of the DAAD UAS scholarship.

Insurances

German program participants are responsible themselves to acquire sufficient foreign health insurance protection and any other neccessary insurance during their study/research visit to the UAS partner university.
