Melanie Thie works in FUB’s Unit for Sustainability and Energy Management and focuses on Sustainability Management, Energy Controlling and Green IT.

After her studies of economics with an emphasis on environmental economics she started to work for the Central Department of IT Services (ZEDAT) at Freie Universität Berlin (FUB). In cooperation with the former Energy and Environment Unit she developed a Green IT program for FUB and coordinated the implementation of efficiency measures. In 2012 she moved to the Sustainability and Energy Unit to improve the energy controlling at FUB and to broaden her field of activities. Her main duties include the energy management including the design and implementation of energy efficiency programs, the integration of a FUB wide online monitoring system and Green IT.

During her Administrators Stay at the University of British Columbia (UBC) she received insights on the Green IT activities at UBC and compared her findings with the activities at FUB. An additional focus was the energy monitoring in combination with communications processes.
