In our series “Talking about Sustainability” our researchers and UAS fellows share their thoughts on their current projects and questions that intrigue them about the topic of sustainability. Besides researchers we feature stakeholders from our universities campus management. So, what are the central tasks of the Sustainability and Energy Management Unit? In a short video Andreas Wanke, head of the unit at FUB explains that for a successful energy and sustainability management technical improvements and participatory methods need to go hand in hand.
Since 2001 the unit has implemented measures and tools for reducing the university’s energy consumption which have led to a substantial drop of nearly 25%. The unit actively contributes to turn the university into a more sustainable place.
