The Postdoc Buddy Program supports new international DRS Fellows in their adaptation to living in Berlin and working at Freie Universität Berlin. The host Postdoc Buddies, who are volunteers, typically have spent some time abroad and maybe even conducted research abroad and thus know many of the possible problems first hand. Or they are international scientists themselves who of course can empathize very well with the situation of the Fellows.
The Postdoc Buddy Program of the Dahlem Research School (DRS) is a complementary offering to the DRS Fellowship Program, which is aimed at international and experienced young scientists who would like to conduct their innovative research projects in the attractive setting of the excellence projects and focus areas of Freie Universität Berlin. DRS Fellows are employed for 18-24 months as postdoctoral research fellows at Freie Universität Berlin.
The support should be given especially in the early days, but also if possible, during the whole 18-24-month research project. Postdoc Buddies provide assistance with issues relating to working at Freie Universität Berlin and living in Berlin in general. And who knows, maybe this will be the beginning of an exciting collaboration or a long-standing friendship.
Anyone who would like to participate in the Buddy program should send an email to that effect to email@example.com.
We expect postdoctoral buddies to:
At the end of this Fellowship round we will ask all those involved to provide feedback. You will be able to report anonymously on what you liked or didn’t like. Tips and suggestions on improving the program are always welcome! On request we will also provide you with a certificate of your activities as an honorary "post buddy".
If problems arise we are of course always available to provide support. In this case, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. We will endeavor to mediate or provide alternative support. Should you wish to leave the program early, please send us a short notification email.
