The Dahlem Research School (DRS) is the Center for Junior Researchers at Freie Universität Berlin – a place of intellectual excitement and world-class research that offers an extraordinary array of disciplines. The aim of DRS is to increase the awareness of the needs of doctoral candidates and postdocs in general and to implement sustainable structures to support them systematically. The two core elements of DRS are a Professional Development Program tailored to researchers at different career stages and the Researcher Development Program a fellowship program for outstanding postdocs.
The DRS Postdoc Fellowship Program integrates postdoctoral researchers into the university’s interdisciplinary and international research networks in an early phase of their career. In line with the university’s institutional strategy, its purpose is to address critical stages in the career of junior researchers as well as to reinforce the international dimension of Freie Universität’s research.
The program is designed to foster the further academic career development through
integration into excellent research groups and facilitation of new co-operations in a stimulating research environment
the opportunity to develop teaching and leadership skills
a tailored qualification program including essential professional guidance on obtaining research funding
At the end of the funding period, DRS fellows are expected to apply for fundingfor follow-up research projects at Freie Universität Berlin.
