The Dahlem Research School (DRS) is the Center for Junior Researchers at Freie Universität Berlin – a place of intellectual excitement and world-class research that offers an extraordinary array of disciplines. The aim of DRS is to increase the awareness of the needs of doctoral candidates and postdocs in general and to implement sustainable structures to support them systematically.
The DRS Postdoc Fellowship Program integrates postdoctoral researchers into the university’s interdisciplinary and international research networks in an early phase of their career. In line with the university’s institutional strategy, its purpose is to address critical stages in the career of junior researchers as well as to reinforce the international dimension of Freie Universität’s research.

At the end of the funding period, DRS fellows are expected to apply for funding for follow-up research projects at Freie Universität Berlin.
for postdoctoral researchers who have recently completed their doctoral studies/ have recently defended their dissertation in one of the DRS doctoral programs. Applicants have to identify a scientific advisor at Freie Universität and propose a project plan. Duration: maximum 12 months
for highly-qualified postdocs from all disciplines with a completed doctorate and international research experience. Applicants have to propose a project plan based around the research fields/ key topics of the participating Excellence Projects or Focus Areas. Duration: 18 months
