“Research to Market Challenge” is a competition for research-based product and business ideas from Freie Universität Berlin, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and cooperating institutes.
The purpose of the “Research to Market Challenge” is to guide members and alumni of the participating institutions through the process of getting their thoughts about potential product or business out of their head, on to paper, and into an actionable plan for the first steps.
We are looking for product and business ideas from three categories:
The ideas will be reviewed by a jury of experts. A total prize money of 9,000 Euro will be awarded. The award will take place on the occasion of a formal closing ceremony on 18 July 2017. The Research to Market Challenge is organized by Profund Innovation, Charité’s technology transfer office and the entrepreneurship network Netzwerk Unternehmertum der Freien Universität Berlin.
Yes, each participant/team is allowed to submit several ideas, but only one submission per participant / team can be awarded.
At least one representative from each winner's team has to participate in the award ceremony and present the idea to the audience. The outcome of the competition including the submitted business ideas may be reported by Profund Innovation and Charité as part of its public relations work. Of course, no confidential information is published as the journalistic principles of the German Press Council are taken into account. The payment of the prize money is not subject to any further obligations. The further development of the ideas is, however, encouraged as the support will continue after the end of the competition.
Three teams per category will be selected and awarded with a prize. The prizes are endowed as follows:

The competition is hosted by Profund Innovation, the central service facility for the transfer of knowledge and technology at Freie Universität Berlin, Charité’s technology transfer office and the entrepreneurship network Netzwerk Unternehmertum der Freien Universität Berlin. The competition takes place as part of the Entrepreneurial Network University (ENU), a joint project of the Freie Universität Berlin and the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin to promote start-up projects.
