Lecture and Discussion on Cooperation in Sociology

During the next week, Prof. Dr. Katharina Blum from the Institute of Sociology at the Department of Political and Social Sciences and the Institute for East European Studies of Freie Universität Berlin will be visiting inter alia the Higher School of Economics in Moscow. As part of her research stay, on February 22 she will be presenting the results of her recent research project on business elites in a broader Europe. The topic of her lecture is "Varying Concepts of Corporate Social Responsibility: Beliefs and Practices in Central Europe" and covers perception patterns of the role of corporations in society by top managers and entrepreneurs in Germany, Poland, and Hungary. Her lecture will be based on a chapter by Katharina Bluhm and Vera Trappman to be published in the monograph Business Leaders and New Varieties of Capitalism in Post-Communist Europe, edited by Katharina Bluhm, Bernd Martens, and Vera Trappmann. The volume will be published by Routledge in 2013.
In the course of her visit at the Faculty of Sociology at the Higher School of Economics further cooperation possibilities will be discussed.
An information seminar is being organized for young scholars and students on February 22, where the head of the liaison office of Freie Universität Berlin in Moscow, Tobias Stüdemann, will present the various possibilities for doctoral studies and master's programs at Freie Universität. Prof. Bluhm will give more detailed information about the master's programs "European Societies" and "East European Studies" at Freie Universität.
