"Networking as a Career Strategy? Handling Academic Networks"
Today, successful networking is often seen as a guarantor of professional advancement, and young researchers regularly receive the advice to begin developing networks early in order to improve their chances on the job market later on. Research networks, conference contacts, academic mentors, and institutional affiliations can all influence one's career path in positive ways. But are academic careers really just a matter of knowing the right people? How do networking and Wissenschaft go together? What role do different disciplinary cultures play? And how do networks function anyway? These are some questions that Junges Wissenschaftsforum Dahlem will address in its first event of the winter term 2013/14.
The event will take place on November 14, 2013 from from 5.00 pm to 8.30 pm at the Seminaris Campus Hotel.
