The Excellence Council

The Excellence Council is the intellectual core of the newly created excellence projects and those that are under development. It comprises 25 outstanding researchers from Freie Universität, including a number of researchers who have won well-known awards and distinctions such as the Leibniz Prize. Most members are also involved in or the leaders of clusters or graduate schools receiving funding under the initiative. The Excellence Council is an internal body that advises the university management of Freie Universität. It cooperates in the development of research emphases within the future concept, initiates new research networks and doctoral programs, and evaluates the effects of all projects that are successful in the Excellence Initiative. The Council meets twice per semester.
