With its institutional strategy, Freie Universität continues its move toward a strategy-based, modern form of management. This approach entailed the establishment of new governance bodies at Freie Universität, notably the International Council and the Excellence Council. Both councils have been introduced as a supplement to and support for our traditional governance bodies – their responsibilities focus on providing continuing advice with respect to change management and the implementation of Freie Universität’s institutional strategy.
The International Council serves as a new external advisory board, providing advice on general issues of university reform, but also assisting specifically with realizing the concept of the International Network University.
The Excellence Council serves as a new internal advisory board. Its primary function consists in advising the university’s Executive Board (Präsidium) in operational as well as strategic matters, especially concerning the university’s advancement in research and teaching.
Additionally, the Presidential Staff Group International Network University has been established to expedite the development of Freie Universität’s institutional strategy on an operational level and ensure professional quality management for all our new measures.
