The concept of “The International Network University” is Freie Universität’s strategic answer to changes in a global research environment. Our new institutional strategy lays the foundation to attract the best researchers worldwide in an increasingly competitive international university landscape. Based on the belief that institutions with ties to a variety of international networks are especially well adapted to introduce ideas and present interesting prospects to its members, Freie Universität aims at expanding its worldwide cooperation network.
In order to meet and identify new partners for international research projects, Freie Universität has founded the Center for International Cooperation (CIC). This center functions as the managing unit for our strategic internationalization. With its wide array of activities all over the world, ranging from joint degree programs and parnterships with universities across the globe to support for international scholars in Berlin, the center is dedicated to advancing the university’s national and international competitiveness in world-class research.
Along with the CIC, international offices in New York, New Delhi, Moscow, Beijing, Brussels, Cairo and - coming in fall 2010 - Sao Paolo ensure the presence of Freie Universität in important regions of the world. These liaison offices are committed to recruiting international top researchers, excellent young scholars, and promising students.
