See Professional Development Program

  • Career Exploration

Each career path requires individual planning.  Enhancing your employability means increasing awareness of your potential, priorities and abilities, developing career goals and exploring career options and how to prepare for them.

  • Job Application

Learning how to present your skills, personal qualities and experiences through effective CV’s and interviews and other formats such as offered by Assessment centers will help prepare you for successful job applications.

  • Training for the Job

Developing professional skills enables graduate students to achieve a higher level of competitive expertise essential for a career not only in academia, but also in industry and in the public sector.  Acquiring leadership skills and managerial responsibilities, business administration and effective communication skills will contribute towards success as a constructive leader.

The Dahlem Research Mentoring Program DREAM aims to support female doctoral candidates in their academic career, but also show alternatives at an early stage.Mentoring involves building a relationship in which a mentor and a mentee jointly explore and enhance the mentee's abilities and skills and discuss career-related issues. The one-year program is complemented by workshops for mentees and mentors and networking events.

Our CAREER TALKS lecture series complement these events. We invite speakers from a wide range of professions to provide insight into their professional life.
