Taxes and security payments
- For jobs with a monthly income of up to € 400 (Minijob), neither taxes nor social security payments have to be paid by the employee.
- For jobs with a monthly income of over € 400 (also applies for several Minijobs with a total income of over € 400), taxes as well as social security payments have to be made. Taxes can be reimbursed in full if your total annual income is less than € 7,664 (including scholarships). You need to do a tax return at the end of the year to claim the refund.
If you take on a job with more than 20 hours a week, you also have to pay for unemployment insurance!
