International Alumni Activity
With seven international liaison offices Freie Universität and its Center for International Cooperation are able to develop country-specific alumni strategies for the university’s work with its international alumni. Source: David Ausserhofer
Freie Universität Berlin engages in a wide variety of alumni activities. In addition to the Ernst Reuter Association, the umbrella organization of alumni associations at the university, the departments and institutes also maintain a number of additional alumni associations. Some of them are chapters of the Ernst Reuter Association. The Alumni Office of Freie Universität Berlin is a point of contact for all alumni of Freie Universität, and with support from the Ernst Reuter Association, it organizes graduation anniversary events for former doctoral students as well as the Ernst Reuter Day on which the founding of the university in 1948 is celebrated.
Support for individual alumni initiatives
In addition to the events centrally organized by the Center for International Cooperation or the liaison offices, some of the alumni associations of the departments and institutes that are especially active receive support from the CIC. For example, the Centre for Global Politics (CGP) is highly involved in working with alumni. Regular alumni newsletters for the various program lines, annual international alumni meetings and reunions, and a dynamic online alumni portal help to maintain close ties between the CGP and its alumni as well as among alumni themselves.
