Further Projects Supported by the CCD

In addition to the Focus Areas of Freie Universität the Center for Cluster Development also provides financial and organizational support for additional projects involving collaborative research.

Their goal may be to apply for approval of a collaborative research center from the DFG (German Research Foundation) or to develop a research training group with a partner organization unaffiliated with the university within the region. All of these cases call for extensive preparatory work that is supported by the CCD in the form of organization, assistance for the development of project content, and funding.

These activities make it possible to meet the requirements set by the bodies that provide funding for research, most of which now expect evidence of substantial expertise and experience in the specific area, cooperative arrangements already being practiced with future partners, and refined concepts even before a proposal is submitted.
