Focus Area Goals
By pooling the research potential present at the university and within the region into Focus Areas, Freie Universität pursues two principal goals.
The first goal is to form lasting, high-performance alliances to conduct research into broad-based topics relevant to a broad cross-section of society. The second of the university’s aims is to establish platforms that successfully contribute to raising additional funding for research. Freie Universität can use these platforms to maintain and expand its capacity for research and stay competitive.
The process involves three stages:
|
1. Output |
Focus Area participants identify suitable sources of funding and develop proposals for external funding, which they then submit to the appropriate potential financial backers. |
|
2. Outcome |
Financial backers, having reviewed the proposal, approve it and the funding for implementation of the research project. |
|
3. Impact |
Impact: During the implementation of the research project, new scientific and academic findings are generated and published from within the Focus Area. |
