Before I started studying at Freie Universität Berlin in 2011, I already had finished a three year-long apprenticeship as a travel agent and worked full-time for DER Deutsches Reisebüro for one additional year, specifically in the field of tourism. During my apprenticeship, I discovered my appreciation for the United States and developed a strong interest especially in US history, culture, and sociology. I decided to expand my knowledge by enrolling in the North American Studies program of FU Berlin with a minor in Latin American Studies. It was particularly appealing to me that this course of study included a mandatory study abroad period that I spent at Tulane University in New Orleans. This exchange year was one of the best experiences of my life, and I am still thankful for the amazing opportunity. After returning from my year abroad and finishing my Bachelor’s degree in March, I joined FU-BEST as Program Manager in July 2015. As a “real Berliner” I would love to welcome you to this beautiful city and am eager to accompany you through the incredible adventure of being a student abroad.
