Simone Lampert grew up in Berlin and attended high school in the United States. She studied Comparative Literature at Hunter College, New York, where she also did her teacher training in ESL and foreign language acquisition and taught courses in expository writing. After receiving her B.A. in 1994, she pursued graduate studies at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York. From 1992-2000, Simone taught ESL and German as a Foreign Language in New York City; during this time, she spent a semester in Brazil, teaching at Yázigi, a language school in São Luis. From 2000-2008 she lived in India, where she taught at a private boarding school in Varanasi. After returning to Berlin in 2008, she participated in translation seminars at the Akademie für Fremdsprachen and studied German as a Foreign Language at the Friedländer-Schule. She currently teaches German as a Foreign Language at the German Language School (GLS) and Lingua Franca.
