Born in Chemnitz (Saxony), Jörn Hausner studied German as a Foreign Language, French, and General and Comparative Literature in Leipzig. During his studies, he gained his first teaching experiences in France as an Assistant Teacher and in Ireland as an Erasmus Student working part time at the Berlitz Language School of Dublin. After his graduation, he became a German Lecturer for the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) at the Université de Savoie in Chambéry. For five years he taught German as a Foreign Language on different levels from “false beginners” up to advanced students, held specific seminars in German Studies (phonetic, linguistic, cultural studies and translation) and organised several study trips to Germany.
After a first stay with FU-BEST in 2011/2012 as German Language Coordinator, he moved to Australia. From 2012-2015 he taught German again as a DAAD lecturer at the University of Sydney and ran the DAAD information centre in Sydney as well.
