Dr. Agata Czarkowska grew up near the border between Germany and Poland. She studied German Language and Literature at the universities of Berlin and Wrocław (Poland) where she got her PhD. While working at the university as an academic teacher, she took part in many research projects in Kiel, Berlin and Zürich. At that time she began teaching DaF (German as a foreign language). She also used to work as a radio host and journalist, focusing on the fascinating relations between popular and high culture, trying to challenge the borders of those disciplines. What she enjoys the most about her classes is watching students overcome their communication anxieties and express their opinions and feelings in German.
