Antje Sroka grew up in the eastern part of Germany. She experienced the fall of the Berlin Wall just in time to enjoy the freedom of choosing her course of study and her place to live. She studied Sociology, German literature and American Studies in Jena, California and Tübingen and began to teach German as a Foreign language at California State University in Chico, California. After having received her M.A. at the Universität Tübingen, she started teaching German as a Foreign language in Tübingen and continued with theater studies, focusing on education and therapy. She conducted theater workshops in combination with foreign language acquisition and directed several plays with international students at Universität Tübingen. She has taught German language to academics and professionals for 20 years in Germany, India and Sri Lanka, and she has been working at Freie Universität Berlin since 2013.
