Levels of Cooperation

DynAge Matrix
DynAge Matrix

Cooperation of experts in the Focus Area is organized in a network matrix with vertical and horizontal elements (see Figure). Groups of age-associated diseases, i.e., tumors, cardio-vascular disease, degenerative musculoskeletal diseases, and cognitive disorders/ depression, constitute the vertical organization of cooperation in the Focus Area. These disease groups are among the most relevant health challenges in Germany and other industrial nations.

The horizontal organization entails three perspectives on the investigation into disease in human aging:

  1. the molecular level investigates molecular basis of disease in human aging
  2. the individual level investigates individual correlates of disease in human aging
  3. the societal level examines societal antecedents and consequences of disease in human aging
