The project supports an interdisciplinary research consortium with two positions of proposal coordinators, each at Freie Universität Berlin and Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, to coordinate and develop a funding proposal to the DFG in order to establish a Collaborative Research Center (CRC) on the topic “Transformation towards Integration: Digital and Organizational Processes in German Healthcare (TransCare)”.
The aim of the CRC is to analyse current and future digital, organizational and sectoral transformation processes in German healthcare as well as barriers to and drivers of transformation at the micro, meso and macro level. Relevance and appeal of this research field arise from the social and economic significance of German healthcare as well as from the political transformation endeavors and remarkable resistance to change in German healthcare that can be observed at different levels of analysis. The guiding research question of the CRC is: How do digital, organizational and sectoral processes of the transformation in German healthcare occur and which mechanisms apply in these processes? This research question will be concretized and answered in more than 12 projects, examining aspects of the digital, organizational and sectoral transformation in German healthcare at different levels of analysis.
