Project Summary

Tumor diseases rank among the most frequent causes of death, particularly in elder patients. The high incidence of carcinomas coincides with an incomplete understanding of the pathogenic mechanisms and a lack of efficient treatment options. A major challenge is the early and reliable diagnosis of tumor progression taking into account individual prognostic factors, such as age, gender and life style. Therefore, the long-term goal of this project is to develop novel biomarkers, which - combined with individual factors – have a predictive diagnostic power in tumor disease.
