Focus Area DynAge

The Focus Area DynAge is a collaboration of the Freie Universität Berlin and the Charite—Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Funding comes from both host institutions. DynAge is the youngest of currently 5 Focus Areas at the Freie Universität and part of its institutional research strategy, which is funded by the Excellence Initiative. DynAge has taken up its work in January 2013. In 2015 the German Institute of Human Nutrition Potsdam-Rehbrücke (DIfE) as well as the Max Planck Institute for Human Development and in 2016 the Robert Koch Institute joined DynAge as further partners.

DynAge’s key aim is to initiate and support interdisciplinary research into disease in human aging. To do that, DynAge provides start-up funding for research that partners up different perspectives on disease processes over the life-span: molecular, individual and societal perspectives. Our current focus is on four age-related disease groups: tumors, cardio‐vascular disease, musculo-skeletal diseases, and cognitive disorders/depression.
