Twitter, Facebook, Google: What sometimes might appear as digital age innovations from the Silicon Valley are actually often based on ideas that are hundreds of years old – and these are explored within the humanities. The Dahlem Humanities Center and current research projects of the Freie Universität Berlin try to offer proof with an exhibition showing that for instance analogue search engines had already existed in the 17th century.
The poster exhibition “Who was first? The Humanities and the Web 2.0” leads you to the roots of the internet, located in the humanities, and informs you about the unique variety of research in the humanities at the Freie Universität Berlin. The exhibition was realized for the Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften and is now set up at Philological Library.
