The public consultation on Building a European data economy is intended to shape the future policy agenda on this topic. Its results will feed into the Commission's possible future initiative on the European Data Economy, that might follow the release of the Communication and Staff Working Document on Building a European data economy early this year.
Building a European data economy is part of the Digital Single Market Strategy. It aims at fostering the best possible use of digital data to benefit the economy and society and addresses the barriers that impede the free flow of data.
