Freie Universität Berlin Places among the First 100 Universities in THE World Reputation Ranking 2013

According to the Times Higher Education (THE) World Reputation Rankings published in 2013, Freie Universität Berlin has joined the ranks of the 100 most highly regarded universities of the world. Placed in the 91-100 group, Freie Universität is one of five German universities among the best 100. A spin-off of the annual THE World University Rankings, the reputation ranking, according to THE, is based on the world’s largest invitation-only academic opinion survey.

The five German universities to appear in the reputation ranking are Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (place 44), Technische Universität München (group 61-70), Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Universität Heidelberg (both group 71-80), and Freie Universität Berlin.

In recent research rankings, Freie Universität also took positions among the top 100 universities. In the THE World University Ranking from October 2012, Freie Universität placed among the world's best universities in the humanities. Reaching place 25 worldwide, it was the best among German universities in the humanities subjects. Published in September 2012, the QS Ranking 2012 placed Freie Universität among the 100 best universities worldwide. In this case, in addition to the academic reputation of the institution, the indicators included the citations of its faculty, the international composition of its students and faculty, and the faculty-student ratio.
