Since being founded in 1948, Freie Universitaet Berlin has viewed itself as an international university that, in addition to providing excellent research and teaching, has always placed emphasis on networking. Freie Universitaet Berlin has persistently continued to develop its connections around the world.
For the strategic extension of international activities, a Center for International Corporation was set up. The Center is responsible for strengthening and expanding the international research and academic network of Freie Universität. The Center supports the university’s institutional strategy of the International Network University by enhancing Freie Universität’s visibility and attractiveness worldwide.
Freie Universitaet Berlin has more than 100 bilateral partnership agreements and over 339 Erasmus agreements. It offers numerous exchange programs for scientists and scholars and is an active member in many international organizations. Freie Universitaet currently has liaison offices in Beijing, Brussels, Cairo, New Delhi, New York, Moscow, and São Paulo.
