“Societal Transformation to Sustainability: Universities as Pacesetters?” – This is the topic of the Spring Campus event of the University Alliance for Sustainability (UAS), which will be held at Freie Universität from March 27 to 31, 2017. Within the framework of the University Alliance for Sustainability, which is sponsored by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Freie Universität Berlin works together with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Israel), the University of British Columbia (Canada), St. Petersburg State University (Russia), and Peking University (China). The aim is to draw attention to the topic of "sustainability" as a cross-cutting topic for cooperation in research, teaching, and campus management. Last year 120 people from 19 universities all over the world took part. Numerous international participants are also expected to attend this year's conference. The conference language is English. Please register using this form by March 20, 2017.
The speakers on the opening day will include former German Federal Minister for the Environment, Jürgen Trittin; the Deputy General Secretary of the International Association of Universities, Hilligje van’t Land; and Undersecretary Wilfried Kraus from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. In addition, during the Spring Campus there will be five different workshops on research and management and a conference for doctoral candidates.
Participation is free for members of Freie Universität (students, researchers, faculty, and staff). For other participants, the registration fee is 190 euros (90 euros for students at other universities).
