Saurabh Divekar, an alumnus of Freie Universität from India, won one of two third prizes for political journalism from the Hanns Foundation for his contribution "What happened to political centrism?" In his prize-winning text he describes the handling of the refugee crisis in Germany from his personal perspective. The selection panel judged the text to be an authentic contribution that dared to consider the situation from the outside, as well as a multifacted, vivid description of personal impressions. In addition, the author concludes his description with suggestions for approaches to avoid exclusion, both as an individual and as an institution, and especially in media coverage, in order to maintain a liberal, tolerant society. A total of four texts won prizes. The competition required the submission of a text on "Challenge: Immigration" and was aimed at graduate and undergraduate students at German universities who were under 30 years of age.
