A Concert for the Queen

Collegium Musicum of Technische Universität Berlin and Freie Universität Perform Music by Edward Elgar for Queen Elizabeth II

№ 191/2015 from Jun 23, 2015

On Wednesday a special honor is being bestowed on the Collegium Musicum of Technische Universität Berlin and Freie Universität Berlin. Sixty members of the orchestra and 80 members of the full choir will enjoy the honor of performing for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. In honor of the 50th Queen’s Lecture, they will play Edward Elgar's "Pomp and Circumstance, March No. 1" in the atrium of the TU Berlin. The choir will sing "Land of Hope and Glory," a British patriotic song set to Elgar's "Pomp and Circumstance, March No. 1." The conductor Donka Miteva and the concert master Charlotte Kaltenbach, a student of industrial engineering at the TU Berlin, will be introduced to the Queen.

The Collegium Musicum is composed of members of Freie Universität and Technische Universität Berlin. Currently almost 400 students and other members of the two universities perform in one or more of the five ensembles: full choir, chamber choir, symphony orchestra, chamber orchestra, and the Berlin Uni Bigband.
