In November 2009 the current president of Freie Universität Berlin, Professor Dr. Dieter Lenzen, was elected as the new president of the University of Hamburg. His tenure in Berlin is expected to end during the first quarter of this year. With his departure the terms of all the vice presidents of Freie Universität will also end, but they will remain in office until their successors are duly elected and take office. The executive vice president, Professor Dr. Ursula Lehmkuhl, will carry on official business after Lenzen leaves office.
