Reading by Anna Seghers Prize Winner Guadalupe Nettel

Mexican Novelist Guest at Freie Universität on November 16

The Mexican novelist, Guadalupe Nettel, this year’s winner of the Anna Seghers Prize, will be a guest at Freie Universität on November 16, 2009. At the Institute for Latin American Studies she will be giving a short talk on contemporary Mexican literature and then will read selections from her literary work. The reading in Spanish with a German translation is open to the public. There is no admission charge.

Guadalupe Nettel was born in 1973 in Mexico City. She is one of the most important writers of the younger generation of Latin American writers. She has published a novel and several volumes of short stories. Guadalupe Nettel has received numerous awards. On November 19, 2009, she will be awarded the Anna Seghers Prize in Mainz. The laudation will be held by Prof. Dr. Susanne Klengel of the Institute for Latin American Studies, Freie Universität Berlin.
