The Swiss student Manuel Scheidegger, who studies philosophy at Freie Universität Berlin, is this year’s recipient of the DAAD Award for outstanding achievements of foreign students at German universities. The prize will be awarded on October 28, 2009, as part of the matriculation ceremony at the Department of Philosophy and Humanities.
The dean of the department declared that of all the candidates Manuel Scheidegger has the most compelling profile. The 28-year-old student who has studied at several domestic and foreign universities and is currently enrolled in a master's degree program in philosophy at Freie Universität, has been very committed to cultural and intercultural projects, has already published several scholarly papers, and has already been awarded numerous research prizes including a Recognition Award of the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research for the theater project "Ludus globi." In addition, Manuel Scheidegger is involved in the social sector.
