The Henry Ford Building was filled to the last seat as Stanford professor Thomas Südhof gave an entertaining and personal presentation retracing his way to the Nobel Prize.

Professor Thomas Südhof, a native of Germany, attended medical school at the University of Göttingen and also completed a doctorate there in 1982. As a postdoctoral researcher he went to the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, where he taught and conducted research for many years.
In 2008 he was appointed a professor at Stanford University in California, and in 2013 he won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. As of the fall of 2014, he will be a Visiting Fellow at the Berlin Institute of Health.
