International workshop of the Sonderforschungsbereichs 980 „Episteme in Bewegung. Wissenstransfer von der Alten Welt bis in die Frühe Neuzeit“
During this workshop, we will examine the question of how poetic and art-theoretical knowledge was analyzed and passed on to following generations of scholars in Italian academies during the 16th and 17th century. Therefore, this event will focus on the early modern age academies in their role as institutions of knowledge exchange and in their function of bringing together scholars with similar socio-political pretenses. Further, the tensions between tradition and innovation and between systems of rules and creativity will be explored. Following the theme of the project 05, the theory and aesthetics of elusive knowledge in the early modern period will be investigated and will be set in context with other current international research projects. In addition, a conference of the SFB-projects A07, B05 and C09, taking place in May 2018, will be planned over the course of this workshop.
