Historians at the Friedrich Meinecke Institute study history in its full breadth, striving for candid openness and pluralism. All the eras from Ancient Greece through contemporary history are covered at the Institute.
There are five major divisions: ancient history, medieval history, modern history, contemporary history, and history education. Despite the chronological structure, the dividing lines between eras are not seen as divisive. The focus is on continuity and long-term processes of change.
