Lebanese and French Youth - Dr. Marie Kortam

Dr. Marie Kortam is an associate researcher at the Institut Français du Proche-Orient (IFPO - Beirut) and a member of Arab Council for Social Sciences. She is currently a visiting fellow at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin. She holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Paris-Diderot. In her research she focuses on “globalized violence” based on a different fieldwork in Lebanon and France. She developed a comparative research project, examining increasingly segregated spaces, reconfigurations and practices of violence. She is the author of two books and numerous journal articles and book chapters on Palestinian refugees, violence, conflicts, inequalities, identities, radicalization process, and segregation.
